Good grief. Sounds like someone spent too much time watching reruns of "Jem and the Holograms."
WHY anyone would think this is a good idea is beyond me... but then, I've heard they plan on doing something simllar this fall with some kind of ABBA "reunion." Supposedly Benny (I think?) is in no condition to go out on the road, so there will be some kind of holographic representation. Weird.

It's not a new idea. It's been done with Sinatra, Elvis and Michael Jackson to name but three.

Blintzy is right. The only reason that the Hologram tours still exist is because there are audiences that want to see them and the shows are profitable for the promoters. In the world of entertainment, new things are tried all the time and, given that there are enough audiences that enjoy Hologram tours that mostly pay homage to performers who have passed, they will continue.
Although I miss many of my favorite performers that have either passed or don't perform live anymore, notably Karen Carpenter, Neil Diamond and Frank Sinatra, I prefer to see tribute artists or bands perform live (this is another growing industry in entertainment) than the Hologram tours. Marvin
