Hi Brenda,

I started a new topic because I wanted to respond to your original post but didn't want to get lost in the political discussion that evolved.

I am so sorry to hear about your furlough. Truly, that sucks. I would say hang in there, especially if there's a pension involved in your fed govt job. Easy for me to say, I know, since I'm not the one losing my income.

I hope this shutdown ends soon, for you, and for everyone directly impacted.

For all of our differences, if we lived closer together and Mr M was performing I'd take you to see him. We could start off with cucumber martini's, which sounds gross but believe me are awesome, and then sit in the 3rd row and stare at Mr M. You could roll your eyes when Mr M sings "WINE" and I shout "NOW". And if we catch a glimpse of Mr Kief you could flip him the finger while I snap photos on my iPhone and get all flushed with heart palpitations. It would be fun and certainly take your mind off of this governmental clusterfuck, if only for a couple hours.

: )

Hang in there, Brenda. I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing you well through this.

Best,
Annie

The word going around is that if the shut down is past 30 days these government employees are ether layed off. We'll see if that's the case.

Actually, no ... normally we would be RIF’d (subject to a reduction in force), but because the furloughs resulted from an unusual lapse in funding, we still have our jobs. (If we ever re-open).

Annie ...

Thanks for the nice words. They are really appreciated. But I don’t know if I could handle Barry singing “I Made It Through the Rain” or something else that’s cheerful. “Lay Me Down” is more my speed these days. :-)

I do miss seeing him, though. God only knows if I’ll see him again anytime soon.
