Got a BarryGram in an email yesterday. Yes, it's a new
BarryGram. They used to go out in the mail to BMIFC members. I
haven't been a member in over 10 years. Odd.

Yes, I got one too, as well as the suggestion to follow Barry in Facebook Messenger. I used to get email alerts from the Barry fan club sites, although the only one I look at now is this one.

I got the email telling me there would be a Barrygram but never got the actual Barrygram.

Maybe I should check my spam folder ...

Mine came in with the remote images blocked. When I unblocked
them I got a message with a big graphic MANILOW at the top,
followed by text that said, BarryGRAM March 2019, and "Excuse
us, but we’re feeling a little nostalgic...", and promising new
BarryGRAMs to come. Then after a few paragraphs, there were
sections of BUY tickets to the Hollywood Bowl, BUY tickets to
Vegas, a video of Copa at the fashion week thing, a preview
video of March videos to PAY for to watch, donate to the Manilow
Music Project, BUY Manilow lip balm, enter contest to win a
Platinum experience in Vegas, and connect on Facebook Messenger.
That's it.

You were probably under the mistaken impression they were
sending out a newsletter with not-seen-before pictures, news
about a new project, and some behind-the-scenes info instead of
basically a sales bulletin. ;^)

Worse than that ... I thought it would have a Q&A with Barry.

Those Barrygrams were the BEST! He even answered a few of my questions. :-)

But then he stopped caring, stopped participating and they went to hell.

Hey yeah... even I can kinda vaguely remember when we got those kind of BarryGrams. On paper. In the mail. Even an occasional ticket letter that the local venue box offices refused to recognize. (Poplar Creek was NOT exactly a model of efficiency...)
You know... back in the days when they at least pretended to care, and the "Maniluv" was so sticky sweet that diabetics had to be careful, even if it was artificial sweetener.

Yeah, Dave...

I sure miss those old days when they pretended to care. They did it so well! LOL!

Actually, what I miss most about those days was my youth. And his youth. And everybody’s youth. We weren’t all old and fucked up.

Brenda, my aunt and I were talking about that very thing. We were talking about the concert in the round (the Showtime special era)and how it was absolutely magical. She's a big Paul McCartney fan, but was talking about how incredible that show was.

I work at a university, and I just don't see students getting that excited about any performer. I guess every generation goes through this. I'm so glad I got to be there for it. It was all so much fun.
