Seen picture online of Barry's mother and Grandpa

I never knew what Barry's mom looked like until today when I came
across
another yahoo group with Barry pictures, even child pictures of Barry
when he was a little boy, he is so cute. Anway the picture I seen was
Barry's mom at the piano. I wonder if she played piano. She is a pretty
lady. I also seen Barry's grandpa in a picture with Barry. I never knew
what he looked like until today, so this is the man who told Barry to,
sing, sing Barry sing. I wonder if Barry has any sisters or brothers,
or if Barry was only child.

Barry is an only child. Edna divorced Harold Kelliher after he came
back from serving his country in WWII. Barry was around 2 years
of age. Barry started out as Barry Alan Pincus
then when he turned 13 he had his last name changed to Manilow. Now why
his family got
rid of his middle name of Alan is beyond me.
Except his frist name Barry is Irish for spear
or Welsh for son of Harry. Harry is shortened
from Harold. Then his middle name Alan is
Celtic for handsome. Most Jewish kids are
given first names of beloved family members
who are no longer living. FYI Barry does have
a Jewish first name on his Jewish birth certificate.

Ya know my parents divorced when I was 2, well I was too young to know
but
later on in life my mom told me, that is how I know. However I do have
2 step brothers and one step sister. Then there is me and my child. My
mom wanted to raise her. My ex husbands middle name is Alan, but I
ended up with the last name Harriman (LOL), now I no longer use that
name, whew. LOL. I am divorced. My last name used to be Leitzen for
awhile as my used that name when she married my step
dad. Now I am back to being a Miller. I think I know who I am. LOL.

I also wonder what Barry's first name is on his birth certificate.
But it's probably none of my business, but hey I can keep guessin' LOL
Thanks for telling me Barry was an only child because I was not sure on

don't think his family got rid of his middle name when Barry's last

I just received an email from someone.
I have not read, nor do I intend to read Pat Butler's
unauthorized book on Barry Alan Pincus.I do not consider
Pat Butler a reliable source of (Barry Manilow)information.
I own 2 hardcover copies of
Barry's autobiography.Barry's autobiography has the correct
information.
I suggest reading Sweet Life:Adventures On The Way To Paradise.
I specifically recommend reading The Early Years-In the Beginning...
If you are in a hurry then go to pages:8,10,and 18.His autobiography
does mention Willie having children from a previous marriage.In his
autobiography,Barry did not specifically mention the name Tim.
Throughout my 26 years as a fan,I have not heard Barry discuss Tim.
I also have not currently heard him discuss how close he is or was
with
his stepfather's children.I have not read,or heard anything
regarding that part of Barry Manilow's private life.It does not mean
what all of you have said on this board is wrong.
It just means I have not heard Barry Manilow divulge any of that.
I am not a Barry Manilow expert.I have never proclaimed and professed

I have an interview that Barry did back in October of 1987. Barry did
the interview with WGN radio's mid morning talk radio host Roy Leonard.
Barry was in town for a book signing at Krocks and Brentano's sp? on
the first name. Roy asked Barry if Sweet Life was his biography. Barry
told Roy no that it
was an anecdote book and that he wasn't ready to write his biography
yet. Barry told Roy he had been telling his friends these stories. He
said his friends said he should tell us his other friends. So he wrote
it without the stuff about his growing up. However McGraw Hill said
some people might ask who's Barry Manilow? So to make it abetter read
Barry said he put in the stuff about himself prior to high school
graduation in 61. Also during that interview Roy told Barry he was told
by Steve King the early morning talk host 2am to 5am. That their were
some fans who were already lined up in front of the book store. Some
fan called Steve from a near by phone booth and told him all about the
fans that were camped out there. Barry said to Roy "Was it cold?" Roy
told Barry no. Then some fan called from a near by phone booth and told
Roy and Barry about the fans who camped out over night. Barry asked
again "Was it cold?" Roy told him no again.
She aslo told them the fans were down the street and around the corner.
WGN is a talk radio station from Chicago. Barry debuted Brooklyn Blues
and Stompin' At The Savoy.

Tim is not the son of his stepfather, he's the son of Harold, his father,
and his second wife, thus Barry's half brother.He never mentioned him
because I don't think they are very close,and that's an understatement !
LOL I did see a picture of Tim once but I don't remember where.

I knew about Tim but I don't think Barry
and Tim are very close. I also heard that
Harold died in Las Vegas in November of
1995. I heard he had Alheimers sp? My
dad had that. He made it to February of
2000 before he passed away.
