Manilow in Vegas extended

Tickets on sale Monday (4/1) for Sept/October (some editorial comments from me included)

It's going to be a long and hot summer because MANILOW: Las Vegas – The Hits Come Home! at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino has been extended through October!

New dates for September and October go on sale via www.manilow.com/tickets on Monday, April 1st at 10am PDT.

Manilow.com is your exclusive home for VIP Front Row seats, VIP SEATS ON STAGE, Platinum Experience tickets and great center seats within the first five rows.

However, they might not reflect positively on certain members of Barry's Inner Circle. and we certainly wouldn't want Miss Annie to blow a gasket and attempt to tear me a new one again...

It's interesting then that the shows break in June, skip two months of the summer (July and August), and pick up in September and October. It's basically an early Summer / early fall stint, not so much an extension of shows through the summer.

I think Q that Barry is not necessarily taking a break, but may be performing in England again and/or possibly in some Canadian and U.S. cities over the summer months as he has in the past. On the other hand, Barry's website haven't announced yet any summer concerts, so maybe Barry really is taking a vacation or perhaps working on a new CD this summer. Regards, Marvin

July & August are normally the hottest months of the year (we’re talking “Death Valley”, “burn the backs of your shorts-clad legs on vinyl seats when you get in cars left out in the elements”, or WORSE triple digits Fahrenheit temperatures hot) in Vegas. Friends & I went to Vegas to see Barry every year (usually more than once) from 1992 through 2010. Nobody, including the locals (& a Vegas local is 1 of my best friends), wants to be in Vegas when it’s that hot. In all that time, I don’t think Barry ever performed in Vegas in those months (though, admittedly, he might have done July & August Vegas shows before I started going to shows in Vegas), & the searing temperatures may have/have had something to do with it.

If he’s not performing in Vegas in July & August the extreme heat could be the reason or among multiple reasons why. I don’t think you, or anyone else, mentioned he could be spending those months recording a new CD. He could be doing that too; especially if he’s going with the idea for another Christmas/Holiday CD, which I thought was floating around as 1 of 2 ideas he had for a new CD (I don’t think he mentioned the other idea). If you’re a musical artist planning on releasing a Christmas/Holiday CD in any given year, you usually have to be in the studio recording it in July so all the other stuff you need to do to release it can be done so it gets released in time for that year’s holiday season. Although, unless it’s already booked solid for July & August, there is a perfectly good professional recording studio at the Palms resort in Vegas, which I think Barry’s actually recorded (or produced another act’s recording session) at before. So he could record there if necessary. But he’s probably more comfortable recording in his own studio, or at least in LA.

I lived in Las Vegas for four years and I think I can safely say that no matter how hot it was outside, the hotels and showrooms are air-conditioned and cool. Sometimes too cool. Heat generally is only a problem if you're outside.

You are correct! Besides that, Barry lives in Palm Springs which also gets hot in the Summer so Barry is used to heat. We can speculate until pigs fly about why he isn't going to be in LV. Maybe someone/something else is scheduled to be at Westgate during that time. Who knows? Personally, I truly hope he does nothing and just rests, especially his voice. Maybe, just maybe, he and Garry are going to take a nice long, well deserved vacation somewhere! Whatever he will be doing - more power to him.

My only point was that the advertising in the email about Barry "having a long hot summer" was misleading in that it leads the reader to believe the added shows are apart of the "long hot summer."

The new shows are really more part of the fall than the summer. What I mean is the new dates don't make it any more or less of a "long hot summer" because the dates are basically in the fall.

And how many conventions/Midnight with Manilow (the 1st one) were held in June and July... and in Vegas?

Yes, Vegas is hot those months, but they are also when the hotels are probably the cheapest for group rates.

And, yes, the heading to the email is misleading. It's not "summer" in Sept/October, but when you live in (almost) year-round sunshine, every month is summer-ish.

My apologies. You did mention the possibility Barry could be recording a new CD this summer, & though I read that, somehow my brain didn’t retain it long enough for me to not say it wasn’t mentioned as a reason for not being in Vegas in July or August.
