Thought this tidbit was interesting, I never did see Thumbelina and I
didn't know this:

In 1995, Barry "won" the Razzie Award for Worst Original Song for the
song "Marry The Mole!" as heard in the 1994 movie Thumbelina. Barry
shares the award with Jack Feldman.

Here is an intro and the lyrics:

**Mrs Fieldmouse tries to convince Thumbelina to marry the mole. While
on first viewing it may not seem much of a villain song, it really is.
Mrs Fieldmouse is such a wicked villain, the more so because she
doesn't appear to be one.**

Love? Love is what we read about in books, my dear.
"Here comes the bride" is a lovely little ditty
But marrying for love is a foolish thing to do
'Cause love won't pay the mortgage or put put porridge in your bowl
Dearie, marry the mole

True, it's a fact that he's not exactly witty
He's blinder than a bat but at least his eyes are blue
His breath may be alarming but he's charming, for a troll
Dearie, marry the mole

Romeo and Juliet
Were very much in love when they were wed
They honoured every vow
So where are they now?
They're dead, dead, very very dead

Poor Thumbelina, your brain so itty bitty
I hate to seem a pest but I know what's best for you
Just think of all the ways that you could decorate a hole
Take my advice, I'll bring the rice
Dearie, marry the mole
Marry the mole
Marry that mole
M is for money
Oh...
L-E!

Thanks -- now I'll have that song in my head all day...

I believe it was voiced by the delightful Carol Channing.

Here's a snippet of the movie that's on You Tube.

I just love the line "at least his eyes are blue". I'm amazed at how
much they draw the characters to have the traits of who is voicing the
part. If I remember the press from the movie, the part was written
specifically for Carol Channing.

And, I ran into Gilbert Gottfried in Las Vegas a few years ago ... did
I remember he Iago was in Aladdin? Nope. Any of the movies he was
in? Nope. Instead the first words out of my mouth were "Nice job in
Thumbelina" ... (well, he was at the Hilton, so I had to come up with
a Barry reference).

There are some similarities to the song "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best
Friend" -- which Carol Channing performed frequently and this -- in
terms of the theme /message being "Go for the money."

I saw this with my step daughter back in the day and wound up talking
to her following about how sad it was the Thumbelina didn't use her
brain to think things through instead of being dependent on all the
other creatures for advice and safety, etc. Thumbelina seemed like a
real vacant ditz.
